Ingredients For Banana Lactation Smoothie

The ingredients needed for this lactation smoothie are so simple. It’s really the process below that makes this truly a must try recipe.

  • Frozen Bananas
  • Can of full fat coconut milk
  • Lactation protein powder

For this recipe, overripe frozen bananas work best. It will still come out good with regular bananas, but it’s just an extra step that makes this smoothie so good.

Bananas are high is potassium and fiber making it a good food choice for breastfeeding moms. Yet, bananas do not directly increase milk supply.

The milk making goodness in this recipe comes from the next 2 ingredients.

Eating coconut while breastfeeding is known to increase breast milk supply. This recipe uses full fat coconut milk to give it extra creaminess, but also this is a great way to add fat to your breastmilk. Some Mamas swear this helps their babies sleep longer.

The other milk boosting ingredient is the lactation protein powder. This one has a combination of herbs that help milk supply. So not only do you get an extra dose of needed protein, but also a milk supply boost.

How to Make an Ultra Creamy Banana Lactation Smoothie

The secret to making an ultra creamy banana lactation smoothie, really starts with what you do before you make your smoothie.

The first step is to start with overripe bananas and freeze them.

Also place the can of coconut milk in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or overnight) prior to blending. This allows the coconut cream in the can to solidify and make for even more creaminess.

I like to do these 2 steps the night before blending.

Once you have your ingredients prepped. It is super easy!

Just add everything to the blender and blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes.

Pour into a tall glass, or tumbler and enjoy!

This coconut banana smoothie for breastfeeding is great for breakfast with a bowl of lactation oatmeal.

It’s also great in the afternoon with one of these breastfeeding snacks if you need a boost to get through the evenings feeding sessions.
