What are lactation smoothie packs?
Over the past several years, breastfeeding moms have started making smoothies super charged with foods that increase milk supply. Lactation smoothie packs are all the ingredients of a lactation smoothie in one bag, or container, and then frozen for whenever you need a quick boost.
Smoothie packs make it so much easier to make a fresh, nutritious smoothie because all you have to do is dump it in, add liquid and blend. No chopping, measuring, or searching for ingredients – everything is all together in the pack, making is a breeze to whip up a breastfeeding smoothie while still holding baby.
Lactation smoothies are an excellent way to get much needed nourishment while breastfeeding. Adding a protein powder to your smoothies can also help to increase your breast milk production. Protein shakes are safe for breastfeeding and also a good option when needing quick nourishment.

How to Make Lactation Smoothie Freezer Packs
It so easy to make breastfeeding smoothie packs! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Plastic sandwich bags, or freezer safe containers that hold about 2 cups (the ones that come with this blender are awesome)
- Fruit
- protein powder
- additional extras like nut butter, brewers yeast, chia seeds, collagen, MCT oil, or ground flax.
Step 1 – Get out the number of bags you’ll need for your packs. It’s a good idea of batch prep these. So make 2-6 of a few different recipes all at one time.
Step 2 – Label your plastic bags with a sharpie. It’s a bit easier before adding the ingredients.
Step 3 – Wash and chop the fruit that you will need for all the recipes and set aside on a cutting board. Gather all the extras, plus measuring spoons and open.
Step 4 – Make the packs assembly line style for 1 recipe at a time by first adding the fruit to each bag. Then the extras to all the bags, and last add the breastfeeding protein powder to each bag.
Step 5 – Press gently to remove air from the bags and seal. Place in the freezer.
Repeat the process with the next recipe.
When you are ready to enjoy your smoothie, dump into the blender with your desired about of liquid. Generally, filling to the 16 oz to 24 oz line on the blender is a good amount of liquid.
Lactation smoothie packs are an excellent addition to your postpartum meal prep.
Fresh or Frozen fruit for Lactation Smoothie Packs?
Both fresh and frozen fruit work well for lactation smoothie freezer packs. Fresh is slightly more nutritious, while frozen is more convenient because there’s no need to chop.
