How to Make a Super Strength Red Raspberry Labor Tea to Induce Labor

To start this is for informational purposes only. Please only drink after discussing with your care provider.

A labor tea is different than pregnancy tea in that involves steeping the herbs overnight to gain the maximum benefits. While both labor tea and pregnancy tea contain basically the same herbs, the labor tea version is much stronger and thus is thought to help facilitate the on set of labor for women approaching labor.

Once in labor, drinking labor tea can help to make the contractions stronger and faster. This can be helpful if labor is dragging on, but should be looked on with caution if laboring at home without assistance, as babies can come fast (i.e, before the midwife arrives, or you get to the hospital/birth center).

Here are a few more labor inducing recipes you can try besides this one, if you are really ready to jump start labor.

To make this labor tea you will need:

This recipe for labor tea includes raspberry leaf and nettle. Drinking nettle tea during pregnancy is very beneficial because it is high in calcium, vitamins A, C, D and K, as well as, potassium, phosphorus, and iron. All nutrients much needed during the time around childbirth.

If you are not a fan of the flavor of raspberry leaf and nettle, you can add in a tbsp of hibiscus tea to make it more palatable.

To make labor tea fill a large tea strainer with the red raspberry leaf and nettle leaf and place in a 32 oz mason jar.

Cover with cold or hot water. It doesn’t matter, which. Allow to steep overnight, or at least 10-12 hrs.

You can even add some crystals for labor and delivery on top of the mason jar overnight for added positive energy for your birth.

In the morning, strain the concentrate and combine with honey or preferred sweetener.

Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Drink the labor tea when you think labor is coming on and once labor starts.

This would make a great drink to take along to the birth center or hospital for extra hydration. Check out more labor snack ideas here.
