How to Make Overnight Oats for Breastfeeding
You may have seen lots of overnight oats recipes out there. But what makes overnight oats good for breastfeeding?
It’s a combination of a few things.
All overnight oats have oatmeal. Oatmeal is know to be one of the top foods to increase breast milk supply. But it’s adding in the milk boosters that really gives overnight oats a powerful punch for breastfeeding moms.
Best milk boosters to add to overnight oats for lactation:
- Chia Seeds
- Flax seeds or ground flax
- Brewer’s yeast
- Coconut
- Moringa
You may also want to include a few more of these foods that boost milk supply in your overnight oats.
After the oats and milk boosters, the milk added can give you more lactation boosting power too. Adding coconut milk while breastfeeding to overnight oats is a good choice for producing more breast milk.
An easy way to get all your milk boosters in is to buy a pre-made lactation overnight oats mix. These come with oats and milk boosters already mixed in so that all you have to do is add milk and fruit. It makes it super easy to whip up a batch of lactation oats relatively quickly.

Best Lactation Overnight Oats to Increase Milk Supply
Ready to give lactation overnight oats a try? These recipes are all fairly simple, but hit the spot when it comes to boosting milk supply.
The great thing is all these recipes are dairy free and gluten free (as long as you use gluten free oats) if your baby has allergies.
We recommend making several of these in one prep session. Once you have all the jars set out, just fill assembly line style, to quickly make a bunch.
What you’ll need:
- Majka Lactation Overnight Oats Mix (there’s a regular flavor & a chocolate mix!)
- 5 Wide mouth glass mason jars (we used 16oz but you can use any size)
- Fruit – banana, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, peaches
- Milk – we used full fat coconut milk, refrigerated coconut milk and coconut/almond blend
- Add the oats
- Add the fruit
- Add the milk
- Seal and refrigerate for 4-12 hours. The longer your oats soak the creamier they will be. Overnight oats last in the fridge up to 5 days.
Note- the lactation overnight oats mix used calls for 1 cup of milk per 1/2 cup of oats. We played around a bit and found that with 3/4 cups of milk you get nice creamy overnight oats and with 1 cup you get slightly soupy oats. So adjust your milk according to how you like your oats.
