We did our best to make this a healthy lactation cookie mix!

We all know eating cookies is not the healthiest things, but who doesn’t love cookies?

And no one deserves cookies more than a breastfeeding Mom!

But a cookie that isn’t going to totally sabotage your breastfeeding diet.

So we made this lactation cookies mix with:

  • gluten free flour
  • dairy free chocolate chips
  • milk boosting ingredients – oatmeal, flax meal, and shredded coconut
  • coconut sugar
  • walnuts to boost antioxiants and omega 3’s

To make these healthy lactation cookies all you have to do is combine the mix with 1 egg, coconut oil and coconut milk.

One of my favorite breastfeeding diet tips is to swap out unhealthy ingredients for better quality ingredients.

This recipe does just that.

And while you can make it with regualar flour, refined sugar and dairy products.

The simple clean eating swaps in this recipe make it so much more satisfying knowing that you are making truly breastfeeding friendly cookies rather than just cookies with good intentions.

These cookies also include these foods that increase milk supply:

How to make Lactation cookies in a jar

Whether you are preparing for baby or making gifts for a new mom, this is really quite a fun project to do.

These are so darn good, you really should just create an assembly line and make a double or triple batch.

You can use either a regular mouth or wide mouth mason jar to make this recipe. The wide mouth is a little easier to fill.

If you don’t have a funnel on hand to help fill the ingredients, I have found that using just a clean, plain piece of paper shaped into a funnel works really well. Otherwise, use a spoon to carefully layer in.

You can download the free gift tags with the recipe and instructions here.

It includes a holiday themed tag and a baby shower themed gift tag with the recipe for the recipient in a few different sizes for you to choose.

A jar of this cookie mix would be great to make for postpartum meal prep. Just make sure to print out the recipe tag so you have the recipe when ready.

Layer the ingredients in this order:

  1. flour
  2. oatmeal
  3. coconut sugar
  4. ground flax meal
  5. cinnamon
  6. sea salt
  7. unsweetened shredded coconut
  8. dairy free dark chocolate chips
  9. chopped walnuts

The ingredients do tend to settle a bit, so in between each layer give the jar a gentle tap.

As you get near the top you can add additional chocolate chips or nuts to fill all the way to the top.

Seal the top with a lid and decorate as you like.

    • Hi Cassie,
I haven’t tried these cookies with with brewer’s yeast or fenugreek. I imagine it would alter the taste slightly but not make too much of a difference. Please let us know if you tried it and what you thought!
